OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) — A 17-year-old boy’s body was recovered Thursday, a day after he is believed to have drowned in Ocean City, Maryland.

The Washington Post reports that officials said the incident began around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday when the teen, who is from Annapolis, was swimming in waist-deep water in the ocean near 112th Street. Capt. Butch Arbin of the Ocean City Beach Patrol said the boy “got pulled out with the rip current.”

As rescuers were trying to reach him, Arbin said he “went underwater.”

The three other people he was with got out OK.
