ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A Maryland board has approved a settlement of more than $13 million to resolve claims of unpaid wages due to the changing of timecards at the state’s corrections department, after an investigation by the U.S. Labor Department.

The settlement was approved by the Maryland Board of Public Works on Wednesday. It comes after the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Maryland Council 3, the union representing the workers, filed multiple complaints with the U.S. Labor Department.

The union alleged that the state was illegally changing the time records for employees without their knowledge or permission.
